Developing Safe Work Habits § Unsafe behavior is the number one cause of accidents and injuries on the job and in workshops. Get into the habit of working safely. You’ll benefit yourself and your co -workers
Develop a Safe Attitude § Work attentively and give your full attention to the task at hand. § Never indulge in “horseplay” or other foolish behavior. § The federal law that governs safety in a workplace is OSHA.
Keep Yourself and the Work Area Neat and Clean § Fewer accidents occur in shops that are well maintained. § Prevent slips and falls by keeping the floor and work stations clean. § Wash your hands at the end of cleanup, not before!!!
Dress for the Job. § Do not wear loose clothing, jewelry, or dangling sleeves that can get caught in machinery. § Do not wear sandals or open-toed shoes. Wear shoes that will fully cover your feet. § Always wear safety glasses
General Safety (I) § All accidents should be reported to the instructor at once. § It is dangerous to pull stock through a machine. § Safety glasses should always be worn while operating machines. § Watches, arm bracelets, and jewelry can not be worn while operating machinery. § Long hair should be confined or tied back before working.
General Safety (II) § Never operate any machine if the instructor is not present. § The instructor should inspect all special set-ups before they are used. § All oily rags should be disposed of in the red metal can. § Long hair should be confined before working in the shop.
