Aim of project • Drafting an ETUC Green Workplaces handbook for worker representatives , to contain – practical advice on energy and resources efficiency – produced with the support of funding from the European Commission for the ETUC’s Green Workplaces Network. – Including case studies from the trade union project partners and networks, covering their pilots of new green workplace projects and workplace training on environmental issues

Practical action – energy saving • Measures being trialled can all help meet EU Energy Directive target of 20% energy reduction by 2020: – Energy audits – Working time – Insulation, draught-proofing, heating/cooling – Electrical & manufacturing efficiency – Automation – Co-generation and on-site renewables
Practical action – resource use • Reducing resource use (and recycling) saves money, benefits ecosystems, and has huge climate change impacts • Examples of union involvement in workplace action include – Paper, packaging & raw materials – Water – Food
Green Travel • Travel to work survey a good place to start • Green travel plans include measures like – Flexible working – Car sharing schemes – Promoting cycling and walking – Work buses & promoting local public transport – Using greener vehicles & eco-driving training
