Purpose of Values Project • Promoting understanding of the trust the community places in us as public servants • Connect the whole Department through a set of common values – schools and corporate staff • Make the values relevant to everyone by using day-to-day examples • To give you tools to help in conversations with staff and colleagues about behaviour at work • To outline the behaviours we have to demonstrate as part of the PDP process
What are DET’s Values
Why are values important Values help set expected behaviours and how we should treat each other Values provide guiding principles Values-driven behaviours increase trust and confidence in our work Values-driven behaviour The values and how we live strengthens our performance, them will be evaluated as standards and outcomes part of the new Performance Development Plan process
Why DET’s Values matter • Behaving with integrity builds trust in the work we do – and it’s what the community rightly expects of us • The way we go about our jobs is just as important as the outcome and values-driven behaviour strengthens our performance, standards and outcomes • If everyone lives the values, we will build a workplace where everyone is proud to work – with a culture of high-performance, strong accountability and continual learning supported by great leadership • DET’s values are guiding principles that can help you in decision making
How DET’s Values fit (corporate) DETs values should be read in conjunction with any professional standards/codes of conduct. They work in partnership and are complementary. DET’s values are part of everything you do and all staff and executives are expected to model the values. They will form part of your professional development plan, and can be found in your position description.
