Triclosan Found in: Soap, Dental Care, Cosmetics, Deodorant, First Aid, Kitchenware, Clothes, Office and School Supplies, and other Personal Care Products Why is it bad? • It is classified as a pesticide and probable carcinogen by the EPA. • It is a synthetic antibacterial ingredient that contributes to the creation of resistant forms of bacteria like MRSA. • According to the FDA, antimicrobial soaps containing triclosan have not been shown to possess additional benefits over conventional soap and water. • A 2010 study found that children who had higher exposure to triclosan had a higher incidence of hay fever. Triclosan has also been associated with a higher risk of food allergy. • Contact dermatitis • In August 2009, the Canadian Medical Association asked the Canadian government to ban triclosan use in household products over concerns of creating bacterial resistance and producing dangerous side products like chloroform. • Disruptive to our environment • Endocrine disruption – reproductive issues

What to use instead: Thieves Hand Purifier DIY Thieves Hand Purifier 5 tbsp. Aloe Vera Gel 4 tbsp. Water ¼ tsp Vitamin E Oil 8 -10 drops Thieves Small Squeeze Container In a bowl combine Aloe Vera Gel and Vitamin E oil. Add 8 -10 drops Thieves to the mixture. Add water and mix well to combine. Add more or less water depending on desired consistency. Pour into container and you’re done!

DIY Deodorant OR ¼ cup baking soda ¼ cup coconut oil ¼ cup cornstarch

DIY Deodorant OR ¼ cup baking soda ¼ cup coconut oil ¼ cup cornstarch 5 -20 drops of essential oils Add baking soda, cornstarch and coconut oil and melt over low heat until dissolved completely. Remove from heat, cool to 104 degrees, then add essential oils – 1 drop at a time until you have reached your aromatic preference, and continue to cool but not harden. Pour into deodorant containers using funnel. Allow to harden.

Thieves Fruit and Veggie Wash and Spray DIY Fruit and Veggie Wash 2 cups Water or 2 cups Distilled White Vinegar ¼ cup Baking Soda 2 -3 drops Lemon essential oil Fill your choice of fruits or vegetables in a large bowl and place in the kitchen sink. In this order: Sprinkle baking soda over fruits or vegetables, add water, lemon essential oil and vinegar. Mix with hands repeatedly and soak for up to 30 minutes.
