Environmental Hood Clothing—Chemical Protection Gloves—Chemical Personal Fall Protection Respirator / Filter Mask Supplied Air q N/A Other: PPE Quality Assurance WARNI NG CAUTION q N/A Determining API Gravity by Stereopycnometer 1 Weigh empty cup. 2 Pour sample into cup about ½ to 2/3 full. 3 Allow sample and cup to cool down to room temperature, then weigh cup and sample. 4 Turn power on (stereopycnometer). 5 Open cell vent and turn on flow. 6 Crack open N 2 cylinder and allow the instrument to purge out for 10 minutes. 7 After the 10 minutes is up, turn flow off and insert cup into chamber. 8 Screw cover back on chamber and turn flow on to purge chamber out for 10 minutes (flow at 2 – 4). 9 Then turn off flow. 10 Zero digital display. 11 After stable reading, turn selector valve to Va out. 12 Close cell vent. 13 Turn on flow. 14 Allow pressure to reach about 17, 000 on digital display, then turn off flow. 15 Record this display as P 2. 16 Turn selector valve to Va in. q Procedure Completed Date: Prepared By: Approved By: Use Y
