De-suung- One of the Agents for Change • Remember our history, understand the present and prepare for the future • Keep all trainees informed of all threats – natural disaster: famine and disease outbreaks, economic crisis, language, traditions/customs/, regionalism, politics, weak economy, gap between the rich and the poor, etc • HM, the fountain of national unity, & solidarity and upholder of our national security • Remember we are - One country, one people, one responsibility and one future under One Monarch • All citizens ( particularly De-suups) must be SMART- agent of change and transform the nation • A secure, more peaceful and a more prosperous nation

Organizational Set up • De-suung Executive Council – the Highest decision making body • Desuung Head Office temporarily in Lungtenphu RBA Campus ; will shift to the new complex above the National Memorial Chorten is completed • 5 Regional Offices – Bumthang, Mongar, Dewathang, Phuntsholing and Gelephu • 19 Dzongkhag Coordinators ( Chaired by Dasho Dzongdag)and 32 batch Coordinators in Thimphu • 205 Gewog Coordinators – in the plan

Deployment of De-suups • Royal Command of His Majesty the King through the Office of the Gyalpoi Zimpon • Request by the Royal Bhutan Police – for crowd control or any other search and rescue operations • Request by the Community for search and rescue or fire hazards • Request by concerned individuals for any need • Natural responsibility – forest fire, flashflood, road blocks, etc • Charitable work- construction of sheds, transporting things where no roads are available, tree plantation, etc • SOP for the conduct of the De-suups during deployment( www. desuung. org. bt)

Contributions of De-suups

Relief and restoration work in Haa, Paro and Samtse after the September, 2011 earthquake

Pel Dechhog Khorlo Dompai Wangchen in Punakha in January 2012

Wangdi Dzong Fire disaster on 26 th June 2012 where De-suups contented the fire and retrieved the relics along with the RBA, RBP and the community

Crowd control in almost all the national events such as National day and His Majesty’s Birthday Celebration and religious discourses in all the Dzongkhags

22 De-suups as members of the Bhutanese Relief Team to Nepal in April/May 2015 after the 25 th April earthquake

As members of the Tree Plantation Team that broke the Guinness Book of World Records for planting the maximum no of trees by 100 people in an hour

Forest fire disaster/flash flood/accidents occurring in any part of the country
