EGUSD Strategic Goals High-Quality Classroom Instruction & Curriculum All students will have access to standards aligned curriculum and receive high quality instruction to promote college, career, and life readiness and eliminate the achievement gap. Wellness All students will have an equitable opportunity to learn in a culturally responsive, physically, and emotionally healthy and safe environment.
Today’s Goals Team members to experience a Design Thinking lesson targeted toward “Inferences” from the learner point of view and observer point of view (Empathy). Team members to provide insight/input/feedback to EGUSD about our progress with Transformative Actions. District teams to reflect on their own Transformative Actions and how they might continue to progress toward their goals.
Setting the Context • Our EGUSD Transformative Actions - BLOG - Spread Design Thinking • Deml’s Story
Key Questions for Input/Feedback • How do we expand the work being done here to other classes, content areas, schools? • How do we lead upward to share Design Thinking and its value with central office staff in order to scale Design Thinking as a way of being/working/processing with students/adults?
What to Expect Next Period 2 (9: 29 -10: 19): We are the learners Period 3 (10: 23 -11: 13): We are the observers Rationale: What can we take away from an experience by not simply observing, but by experiencing the lesson alongside the user – explicitly switching our lens? What implications does this have for our work?
Debrief • Feedback for Deml…what evidence of Design Thinking did you see (or experience)? What might be adjusted or considered? • What was it like to experience something from two different lenses? • What questions, ideas, or wonderings do you have?
Let’s zoom out • How do we expand the work being done here to other classes, content areas, schools? • How do we lead upward to share Design Thinking and its value with central office staff in order to scale Design Thinking as a way of being/working/processing with students/adults?
