Design Interface (DI) Definition (From Do. D Deskbook) DI is the Integrated Logistics Support

Design Interface (DI) Definition (From Do. D Deskbook) DI is the Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) element that determines the inherent supportability of the mission equipment. (The term "inherent" means that, given an existing mission equipment configuration, the actual supportability of the system is limited by that configuration. That limitation is based on the premise that its support elements, as characterized by the remaining ILS elements, are optimized for that particular mission equipment). In other words, logistics should influence the design of the weapon system to minimize support.

EN/SY DI Process Flow Summary The EN and SY Directorates of the Aeronautical Systems

EN/SY DI Process Flow Summary The EN and SY Directorates of the Aeronautical Systems Center are in the business of identifying, quantifying and refining System Level Requirements based on Mission Requirements and Customer Needs. The DI Logistics Support Elements, provides a means to focus on the Systems Engineering Disciplines and Technologies which most influence Systems Design for Support. This focus remains in place throughout the System’s life cycle to include major modifications, block upgrades, product improvements, and system disposal.
