Our Values National Building Museum Mission How We Interpret the Museum Mission Teen Programs uses design as a framework to teach teens how to advocate for themselves and how to initiate and promote change in their own communities. Student-centered/driven Diverse Groupings: participants and volunteers Museum Education “To advance the quality of the built environment by educating people about design and construction’s impact on their lives. ” Experiential/Hands-on Learning- learning by doing Problem Based Learning- real world context Constructivist (literally)- create own meaning Inquiry Based Learning- asking questions Informal Learning- learning opportunities outside the classroom 21 st Century Skills: collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, leadership to solve problems Character Goals: respect + responsibility + creativity+ confidence = engaged citizenship
