DESIGN AND STABLISHMENT OF THE ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM
DESIGN AND STABLISHMENT OF THE ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM / LOAD CENTER WITH DIRECT CONNECTION TO THE NATIONAL GRID CORPORATION OF THE PHILIPPINES IN BICOL UNIVERSITY MAIN CAMPUS PROJECT 1: PRE ENGINEERING EVALUATION Engr. Fernan D. Dematera, Project 1 Leader
STUDY 1: Status of Existing Electrical Equipments and Devices 1. To determine the existing electrical equipment and devices (ex. Size of wires, type of connection, type of electrical devices) of Bicol University Main Campus 2. 2. To find out if each building in the Main Campus comply with standards based on Philippine Electrical Code latest edition (2009
STUDY 2: Analysis of Installed Transformers at the BU Main Campus 1. To determine the existing k. VA installed capacity of transformers at the B. U. Main Campus and to determine the buildings supplied by each transformer 2. To determine the peak load for each building at the Main Campus 3. To determine if BU Main can comply with all the requirements of N. G. C. P. for direct connection
A. PROJECT 1: PRE – ENGINEERING EVALUATION STUDY 1: Status of Existing Electrical Equipments and Devices OBJECTIVES EXPECTED OUTPUT Work Activity 1. To determine the existing electrical equipment and devices (ex. Size of wires, type of connection, type of electrical devices) of Bicol University Main Campus 1. Inventory of Electrical Equipment and Devices Sent letters of request to Offices of the Deans and Heads of the buildings at main campus of Bicol University asking for the permission to have a cite survey of the electrical equipment and devices Time Frame April 2011 to June 2011 Made the inventory form for the existing electrical equipment and devices 2. To find out if each building in the Main Campus comply with standards based on Philippine Electrical Code latest edition (2009) SCHEDULE ACCOMPLISHMENT Conduct ocular inspection of the service entrance of each building , listing the types of wire being used, and identify the connection. Refer to the latest edition of PEC which is the 2009 edition. September to December 2011 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 1 0 1 1 1 2
A. PROJECT 1: PRE – ENGINEERING EVALUATION STUDY 2: Analysis of Installed Transformers at the BU Main Campus ACCOMPLISHMENT OBJECTIVES EXPECTED OUTPUT 1. To determine the existing k. VA installed capacity of transformers at the B. U. Main Campus and to determine the buildings supplied by each transformer Work Activity Time Frame 1. List of KVA installed capacity of the existing transformers and the buildings connected to it. 1. Coordinate with the PDMO for the complete list of transformers at BU main campus including the connection to the buildings April 2011 2. To determine the peak load for each building at the Main Campus 2. Tabulation of the peak load for each building the Main Campus 2. Tabulate the peak load for every building using clamp–on ammeter 3. To determine if BU Main can comply with all the requirements of N. G. C. P. for direct connection 3. List of requirements 3. Coordinate with the for direct connection to proper agencies for the NGCP requirements of direct connection like NGCP & ERC. April 2011 to March 2012 January 2012 March 2012 SCHEDULE 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 1 0 1 1 1 2
FINDINGS: 1. Based on the data of the peak load being measured in every building, the approximate daily KW consumption by the BU Main Campus ranges from 500 – 600. 2. Service entrance conductor shall not be located in wet locations such as down spout, gutters and etc. , Such case involves BU College of arts and Letters were in, the service drop conductors are located near the down spout of the college building.
FINDINGS: 3. Service raceway shall be equipped with a raintight service head at the point of connection to service drop conductors. Some of the building in the BU Main Campus does not comply with the code. Some are already damage and subjected for replacement: IPESR and other establishment of BUCE. 4. Service conductors must be readily accessible and must be at standard clearance and height. -service drop supplying loads into some college building does not comply with the code likewise in the case of BU admission office wherein service head are not readily accessible and excide the standard height prescribe by the code.
FINDINGS: 5. The smallest service conductor shall be at 8. Omm 2 at 60 ampere trip. - some establishments in BU Main Campus did not comply in the code. 6. Standard mounting height for Kilo-watt Hour meter shall be implemented. Standard mounting height must be 6 ft.
PROBLEMS MET: 1. The requested research equipments such as Megger, heavy duty clamp ammeter, ladder was not yet delivered/purchased. 2. Two succeeding Research Assistants hadn’t renew for the contract. 3. WEC was not considered to the Project Leader due to its part time status from June to October 2011.
Thank You and Merry Christmas!
