Applying Your New Knowledge In this session students are encouraged to complete a activity or two to put into practice their new knowledge Hygiene in Early Childhood Centres
Possible Activities • Students could draw pictures of themselves or trace around themselves (lifesize) and write personal hygiene practices for Toileting, Nose blowing, Managing coughing and sneezing, Dental Care, Skin Care on appropriate part of body • Conduct a practical exercise where students practice hand washing, identifying the different steps in hand washing • Students could practice hand washing and peer assess – rating each other on a scale of 1 -10 for efficient hand washing. Possible Activities • Make posters outlining the steps for effective hand washing • Students could make cue cards with illustrations to help young children maintain hygiene when toileting. • Students could find suitable books or You. Tube clips or make one that teaches children about tooth cleaning and healthy eating. • Make a poster discouraging the use of high sugar drinks or the dangers of letting children fall asleep with their bottles or sippy cups.
