Cleaning, Sanitising and Disinfecting • Cleaning removes dirt and germs from surfaces. • Disinfecting kills germs • Sanitiser lowers the number of germs to a safe level as judged by public health standards or requirements. This process works either by cleaning or disinfecting. Hygiene in Early Childhood Centres
Play Areas - Adults “A study published by the University of Arizona suggests that almost half of all playground equipment is contaminated with potentially illnessinducing bacteria. While swinging on monkey bars, coasting down slides, and enjoying other recreational equipment, children are exposed to the urine, blood, saliva, sweat, and mucus of others who've used the equipment before them. These facts make playground equipment twice as big of a biohazard as public restrooms. Hygiene in Early Childhood Centres
Play Areas - Adults can: • Clean and disinfect play areas and toys regularly • Clean up spills and messes quickly, while keeping children away from the area to avoid contamination. • Use protective gear (gloves) when cleaning. • Regularly wash their hands. Hygiene in Early Childhood Centres
