4 Phases of Alcohol Dependency 1. Tolerance: Being able to drink more alcohol before experiencing ill effects – heavy social drinker 2. Memory Lapses: related to event occurring during drinking episodes. 3. Loss or lack of control over Alcohol: The drinker can no longer be certain of discontinuing use when he/she wants to. 4. Prolonged Binges of intoxication: the drinker suffers observable mental and physical complications.
Symptoms & Effects of Alcohol Dependence 1. BEHAVIORAL: Hiding Bottles, aggressive behavior, personality changes, irritability, jealously, uncontrollable rage, selfishness. 2. PERSONAL SYMPTOMS: Nausea, Vomiting, Shaking in the morning, abdominal cramps, numbness, irregular pulse, delirium tremens.
