What do they say? I can’t say enough good things about the quality of the teaching candidates that come out of Clemson University’s MAT program. They are always at the top of our list when interviewing for teaching candidates, especially in Math and Science. Anyone I come across who is interested in going into education but may be following a nontraditional route, I direct towards the MAT program. It consistently turns out some of the highest performing new teachers in our profession. -Charles S. Mayfield (Principal J. L. Mann High School) I looked into many programs when I was considering getting my teaching certification, from PACE to other universities, etc. I’m extremely glad I chose the Clemson MAT Program; it truly is the “Best in Class. ” After talking with other teachers that have been in other programs, I realized the quality of Clemson’s curriculum. With the practicum in the fall and student teaching in the spring, you are able to be in a school setting for an entire year before you’re on your own—this is invaluable experience. Throughout that whole year you have excellent professors supporting you and observing you, and knowledgeable cooperating teachers by your side every day. -Amy Hegarty (graduate of MAT program, award winning teacher at Greenville High)
