An In-depth Look Into Psychosis in Children and Adolescents” Presented by: Portia West, MD Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine Brody School of Medicine East Carolina University Objectives: • • Define psychosis and be aware of the conditions that can present with psychotic symptoms in children and adolescents. Be able to differentiate early onset schizophrenia from very early onset schizophrenia. Understand how to evaluate children with schizophrenia from a biopsychosocial perspective. Understand the pharmacological treatment modalities recommended for management of early onset schizophrenia.
