DMH Clinician backgrounds ● All of our therapists have Master’s degrees ● All are trained in evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including CBT and MI; most are also trained in TFCBT
What our clinicians do… ● Provide planned, ongoing therapy. ● Include family members in treatment process. ● Engage in Crisis Interventions with those currently active in treatment, as well as with other students in the school, with limitations (We can discuss later if needed). ● Collaborate with parents, teachers, counselors, and school administrators to ensure a coordinated approach toward improving school behaviors and performance. ● Advocate for student and parents during IEP and/or 504 meetings.
What our clinicians cannot do… ● Provide 1 -on-1 shadowing or monitoring of students. ● Act as a drop-off place for students in crisis. ● Pursue students throughout the building or those who leave the school building/grounds. ● Restrain students.
Intakes: ●Intake assessments can be completed at the school. ●If more expedient, this process can also be completed in the clinic setting. ●Intake appointments take approximately 2 hours of the parent/guardian’s time. Please adjust your schedule to accommodate this time frame.
Other important details of note: ● With some exceptions, participation in treatment is voluntary. ● CDMHC does bill for our services, including submitting billing to insurance providers ● No one is refused care due to inability to pay. If a student/family is uninsured, our fees are based on the family’s income and the number of people in the family; arrangements must be made with CDMHC billing dept. ● If a student completes treatment, or if they/their family cease participation, their case will be closed; readmission can easily occur if need arises or interest in participating increases
