D) Time to finish comprehensive exam within 18 months of joining Ph. D programme (Full-Time Ph. D candidates) within 24 months of joining Ph. D programme (Part-Time Ph. D candidates) Maximum period of stipend is 5 years All Ph. D students has to perform TA duty Allowed to participate in one National conference every year (max grant Rs. 20, 000) Allowed one or two international conferences during the entire duration of Ph. D (max grant Rs. 1, 50, 000) Outstanding students are eligible for Research Excellence Travel Award (addition Rs. 1, 50, 000 for attending conferences Supervisor to be informed every time a student leaves Delhi (leave to be approved prior to travel) 30 days of paid leave in a year Before thesis submission, synopsis is required 2 publications are required for synopsis submission

D (Materials Science and Engineering) Procedure for Prime Minister Research Fellowship a) Direct Entry In the 'Direct Entry' mode, outstanding students who have secured admission for full-time Ph. D. and paid fees in one of the PMRF granting Institutes (all IITs, IISERs and IISc plus top 25 NIRF ranking institutes are eligible) are recommended by the host Institute. b) Lateral Entry (1) In the 'Lateral Entry' mode, existing (currently registered) full-time Ph. D. students who have not completed 12 months (those who joined with Masters' qualification in July 2019) or 24 months (those who joined with B. Tech qualification in July 2018) are eligible. All candidates who satisfy all of the following criteria are eligible for Lateral Entry. (2) The candidate should have completed at least four courses (3 or more credits) in the Ph. D. programme, each of which should be a full-semester course, and obtained aggregate CGPA of 8. 5 (out of 10) or higher.
