Merit Scholarships Current Status • 4 DE students per year receive a scholarship for

Merit Scholarships Current Status • 4 DE students per year receive a scholarship for approx. $23, 000 each to attend UD or Del State • Approx. 50 of the most academically gifted DE students receive an award of $1, 250 per year Opportunities • For academically gifted students with financial need above the $20, 000 EFC range there are limited options for funding their education • Current merit funding amounts could be spread among a larger group of students.

Need Based Scholarships Current Status • Approximately 930 financially needy students received a $1, 000 scholarship in 18 -19 Opportunities • Approx. 1700 students were eligible for a need based scholarship • Increased funding would allow DHEO to award more scholarships to needy students

Incentive Programs Current Status • There are 6 Incentive programs with 6 different sets

Incentive Programs Current Status • There are 6 Incentive programs with 6 different sets of rules • Funding rules direct the largest portion of funds to certain career fields with limited applicants • Not all program areas are aligned with shifting labor market needs • Current program structure restricts states ability to utilize funding in the areas with the greatest market needs Opportunities • Create one incentive program with multiple award categories generated by a state approved list of in demand career fields • Streamline the employment requirements for loan forgiveness
