• Ohlone College offers an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC). Students who graduate from this Nursing program are eligible to sit for the NCLEXRN which leads to licensure as a registered nurse (RN).
What is NCLEX • In April 1994 nurse licensure candidates began • • taking the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX®) on a computer at test centers located across the United States and its territories. National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN). The NCLEX examinations are only provided in a computerized adaptive testing format.
Which Countries? • The NCLEX examination is administered in the • United States, the District of Columbia, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The use of the same examination by all jurisdictions facilitates licensure by endorsement from one board of nursing to another. Beginning January 2005, the NCLEX examinations are administered internationally in Hong Kong, Special Administrative Region of the Republic of China, London, England, and Seoul, South Korea.

• The Nursing program can be completed in two academic years and one summer session. The graduates of an associate degree program in nursing are prepared to practice as staff nurses providing direct patient care in hospitals and long-term care facilities, clinics, and other agencies where nursing roles and services are structured and well developed.

Ph. D Studying Segments • The initial segment of the curriculum provides course work in the areas of research, nursing science and theory development
Ph. D. Studying Segments • the middle segment shifts to course work, research residencies, and independent studies that provide a basis for the student's projected dissertation focus and the subsequent initial program of research.
Ph. D. Studying Segments • The final segment of the program, preceded by the qualifying examination and advancement to candidacy, entails development of a dissertation research proposal, data collection and analysis, and the writing of the dissertation. The dissertation is a work of independent research that makes an original contribution to knowledge in nursing. A key element of the program is faculty advisement. The program entails approximately four years of academic work.
