Students who enroll throughout the calendar year can earn as many as 36 credits (12 courses) per year.
WPU GENERAL EDUCATION CORE • As a liberal arts college, WPU ensures all graduates have broad exposure to a wide range of fields of study in their degree programs. Core credits range from 42 -45 credits (depending on class standing at time of admission) and contain courses in the following fields of study: • Writing and Communications • Humanities (History, Literature, Philosophy, Foreign Language) • Religion • Natural Science and Math • Social Science • Fine Arts • Health & Fitness
BACHELOR PROGRAMS MAJOR FIELDS OF STUDY • Students in Professional and Graduate Studies may choose from the following areas for their major: • Bachelor of Arts in Ministry and Community Engagement (57 credits) • Bachelor of Business Administration (43 credits) • Bachelor of Health Care Administration (51 credits) • Bachelor of Science in Accounting (55 credits) • Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Criminology (46 credits) • Bachelor of Science in Human Development (43 credits) • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (requires a current RN license) (43 credits)
• Transfer courses taken at an accredited institution • Up to 40 credits of vocational/technical training may be transferred • Grades must be “D-” or higher to transfer ALTERNATE FORMS OF CREDIT Depending upon the degree program chosen, students have from 21 -71 credits that may be taken in elective areas. These electives may be taken through courses at Warner Pacific, or through a combination of the following: • Up to 30 elective credits may be earned through any combination of the following: • Credits earned through testing, e. g. , CLEP or DSST • Credits from the certification of professional trainings, including military trainings, as recommended by the American Council on Education • Credit earned through essays submitted documenting prior learning, as assessed through the Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) process.
COURSE SCHEDULING • Complete major coursework with a cohort that takes all courses in the program in sequence, either face-to-face one evening per week, or online. • Each undergraduate course meets for five weeks. • Students who enroll throughout the calendar year can complete 10 courses per year if they complete one course at a time. Students may complete up to 12 courses in a year (6 each semester) if they take some courses concurrently.
HOW DO I START? • Already have an associate degree? • Choose a major and enroll in a bachelor’s degree program! • Have very few or no college credits? • Enroll in an associate level degree program to earn your core studies credits. • Move to a bachelor program when associate is complete or when you have 48 credits. • Have quite a few college credits and unsure which degree to pursue? • Talk to an Academic Advisor, who can evaluate your credits and advise you on the best path for your situation.
