Definition of Supervision for Psychological Therapies Supervision is a formal yet collaborative relationship, which takes part in an organisational context, which is part of the overall training of practitioners and which is guided by some form of contract between the supervisor and supervisee. The expectation is that supervisees offer an honest and open account of their work and the supervisor offers feedback and guidance, which has the primary aim of facilitating the development of the supervisees therapeutic competencies, but also ensures they practice in a manner, which conforms to current ethical and professional standards Roth and Pilling 2008
