Example Essay: • Introduction: What do you think of when you think of the word “passion? ” Although the technical definition of the world passion is a “strong and barely controllable emotion or an intense desire or enthusiasm for something, ” passion can mean much more than that to many people. Passion is one of my favorite words, and to me, passion is a God-given, intense and natural enthusiasm for something that you love. Having passion for something means it makes life worth living and enriches your life. • Body Paragraph 1: There are two examples of what passion could mean. Many people have passion for different things in their lives. When I was in high school, I played sports, and I showed extreme passion. I took pride in my performance, and I would leave all of my emotion out on the court or field, loving the game, and not wanting to let my teammates down. I chose this word to represent my senior season of softball because this word encapsulated my feelings for sport in such a big way. Another example of passion can be seen in The Great Gatsby. I have never seen love like Gatsby loves Daisy. Not only does he love her, but he has a passion for making sure his life revolves around her. There is a fine line between passion and creepiness, especially when it comes to Gatsby. However, I view his unwavering love for Daisy as beautiful passion.

Example Essay: • Body Paragraph 2: As I said above, passion can sometimes verse on insanity or obsession, but his is not what passion is. Passion should be a positive feeling towards something. If someone’s passion for something goes so far that it ruins the rest of their life or controls their life, it is not passion; it is obsession. Passion is also not just simply love. Love is a beautiful emotion, but love centers more around relationships, whereas a passionate person does not need to be in a relationship. They can have passion for so many more things than just people, which makes it an intriguing quality. • Body paragraph 3: Sometimes it can help to talk about passion in more abstract terms. When I picture the idea of passion symbolized, I think of someone’s heart on fire. If you looked at their heart with an x-ray machine while they were doing something they were passionate about, it would light up, burn, and fill their whole body with warmth. That is how passion works because it something you feel deep within you that can’t always be explained. It’s the feeling of purpose. It’s the feeling of meaning. Like I said, it’s what makes you want to wake up in the morning. What makes you burn inside and helps you make it through the day: passion. Conclusion: Without passion, people would be wandering aimlessly throughout their day. They would be no “life” in life. Can you imagine if we had a gray life where no one every enjoyed being a part of anything they were passionate about? That is not a life I want to live in.
