Safeguarding Dedworth Middle School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Safeguarding Dedworth Middle School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This means that we have a Child Protection Policy and procedures in place. All staff (Teachers, Learning Support Assistants, Supply and Lunchtime Staff, Office Staff, Site Manager, Volunteers, Students and Governors) are made aware of these procedures. Parents and carers are very welcome to read the Policy on request or via our Website. Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare. Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (Mrs North).

E-safety Due to an increase in technology and social media sites, there has been an increase in incidents being raised often starting outside of school, but unfortunately brought into school. As parents we ask that you support the school, by monitoring your child's internet usage and content (sending and receiving). Please be aware there age limits of lots of social media sites, which are not often highlighted when signing up. At DMS we run numerous e-safety assemblies and in house ASPIRE sessions to promote the positive uses of the internet and how/what to avoid on the internet – focus, keeping children safe. Phones that are brought into school must be handed into the school office at 8. 30 where they will be kept safely until the end of the day. Children are not allowed to use mobile phones during school time.
