Dear Parents or Guardians, Welcome to the 2014 -2015 school year. My name is Heather Owens, and I will be your sons or daughters 7 th grade Texas history teacher. I am looking forward to a successful year of learning! Let me introduce myself. I was born and raised here in Central Texas, and reside in Killeen with my wonderful husband our three children. I am a graduate of Texas A & M University Central Texas with a degree in academic studies, majoring in history with a minor in English. This is my first year here at Copperas Cove Junior High and I have been in the field of education for ten years now. This will be an exciting year for all of us. We will study vocabulary, literature, writing, and study skills in preparation for the successful completion of the state’s standardized tests next spring. I have planned many activities throughout the course of the year that are designed to help your child succeed academically, not just this year but also in the future. Please read the course syllabus, classroom procedures, and expectations I have provided to understand my philosophies of teaching and education.
