COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAM F/T DEAF • Outreach with Arizona State School for the Deaf and Blind – First year experience • Some positive • Some challenges – Second year experience • Resistant • Off to a bumpy start • Negative feedback • Agreed to start over on a new leaf
SECOND YEAR OUTREACH PLAN REVISITED • ASDB had a list of demands • Developed an outline • Met several times to review and revise outline and materials including Pre/Post Assessment prior to the start of the program • Sent PP to ASDB for feedback prior to weekly sessions • Constructive feedback was given at the end of every session

WEEK TWO • Reviewed notes from Shoebox • Discussed definition of dating • Definition of Domestic Abuse – Used Deaf Hope’s Power and Control wheel • Stats (local and target population)
WEEK THREE • Power and Control Wheel • Activity – Role play activity (7 groups) – Lindsay and Bebe modeled “Using children” first – Provided other examples of abusive behavior (Would revise this activity in the future)
WEEK FOUR • Field trip to Tucson City Court • Students got to see jail transports • Judge Million answered questions • Lawyers and Victim Advocates answered questions
WEEK FIVE • Discussed city court experience • Activity: Power and Control Wheel vs Healthy Relationship
WEEK SIX BOUNDARIES CONSENT • Boundary Hula Hoop Activity • Consent Activity (Red/Green Flag) – Violated students’ boundaries – Discussed Boundaries – Lindsay, Bebe, and Jessica Role Played – Practiced how to communicate boundaries – Smoking weed, sex, graffiti, alcohol, cyber – All scenarios considered “GREY” – VERY RICH DISCUSSION!
WEEK SEVEN • Rape culture – Magazine activity – Blurred Lines lyrics – Examples of rape culture from media – Autocorrect: This is Rape – Teen’s Poem – Tea and Consent – How to Help a Friend/If a Friend is Abusive handouts
