The G/T Education Program goals are to: 1. 2. 3. 4. Accelerate the achievement of students who participate in the G/T Education Program. Increase successful participation of underrepresented populations of students in G/T Education Program offerings. Develop a highly qualified professional staff. Develop and implement a comprehensive plan for G/T Education Program communication and community involvement.

School-wide Enrichment Program ü G/T Mathematics for 4 th & 5 th grades ü

G/T Mathematics Participants Identification ü Students are identified for participation through testing. Students are

G/T Mathematics Participants Identification ü Students are identified for participation through testing. Students are nominated for testing by teachers and/or parents. ü Testing takes place in January/February. ü Notification of eligibility is mailed from the G/T Office around Spring Break. ü Parents of students who do not meet the cut-off score may request in writing a Placement Review at which time additional data such as classroom performance will be considered.

Enrichment Participants ü We are working with highly able students as they participate in the Gifted and Talented Education Program. ü The program is designed to provide services for students who demonstrate above average ability, task commitment and creativity.

Curriculum Extension Units ü Interdisciplinary advanced-level content, reading, writing, & thinking skills ü 3

Curriculum Extension Units ü Interdisciplinary advanced-level content, reading, writing, & thinking skills ü 3 CEUs per grade (2 nd-5 th) per year lasting approximately 9 -12 weeks ü 2 CEUs for 1 st grade ü Each unit requires two hours of instruction per week with the G/T Resource Teacher ü Grouping is flexible to meet student needs (Previous participation does not guarantee participation in future units. ) ü Multiple criteria are used for the selection process.
