AGENDA ● HAMUN details ● Club Details ● Current Events Discussion
HAMUN Details ●HAMUN is our most important conference of the year. Date: January 25 th-26 th but moved to an unannounced date. We will inform you all as soon as possible. ● Countries selected: - Finland (8), Belgium (8), Slovenia (7), Sri Lanka (6), Jordan (5), Crisis Committees (6), and Belize (4) for a total of 44 delegate seats. - We will get more if necessary ● Crisis Committees - International Court of Justice, World War 2, Aftermath of the Korean War, Game of Thrones: Robert’s Rebellion, Mongol Invasion of China
HAMUN Details Part 2 ●Delegate Workshops - Late October and another in January. We could possibly host. - We highly suggest attending at least one of these. Only take about 2 to 3 hours. ● Choosing Delegates - Last year we used the point system - Not everyone may get the committee and country they want. Everyone should be able to go to this conference
Club Details ● Remind is our primary source of communication and announcements - The website will have all important information and meeting details, but it is not 100% up to date all the time. Check the website often. ● Make sure you sign-in to all meetings so we can count your MUN points ● Make-up meetings only occur for mandatory meetings and will usually occur Tuesday morning in Mr. Fahler’s room, portable 19, at 6: 45 am. ● Members page on the website honors those who are active in our club and are not officers. Easier for colleges when they confirm your ECs
Club Details Part 2 ●We may not have emphasized enough that we are also a “Current Events” club too and that is what “optional meetings” are for ● Optional meetings can be mock committees, current events discussions, or debates. Usually on Fridays and will be longer than our “mandatory meetings” ● Optional meetings are where we can really get to know you personally. Many of you are busy, but want to join Conferences, that is why our meetings are this way ( missing optional meetings do not count against you) ● Some mandatory meetings will not be purely informational and are intended to prepare you for conference
Club Details Part 3 ●We will be going to at least 2 conferences. We are aiming to go to a conference in November/December and HAMUN. - The HAMUN Model UN workshop will be useful for those who want to attend the November/December one - If we can’t do a Nov/Dec conference we will do one in March or April ● Potential conferences include: - Baylor University Conference is 1 day conference in November in Waco (Most likely Nov/Dec Conference) - UT Austin Conference is a 3 day conference in November in Austin
We will have our first non-mandatory meeting this Friday after school in Mr. Fahler’s room (P 19), which will be a me (Emmanuel Yambq) presenting background information about a topic and a current events discussion
