Day Two I arose at a sensible hour. . . around nine as I recall. . . and went down to breakfast with the Princess. Not sure what the other guy did. Oh yeah, now I remember. . . he showed up late and ate too. After eating we took a walk to have a closer look at the place. The resort is constructed around a central court filled with splendid palms, exotic flowering plants and pools of colorful tropical fish. © 2008 David Coyote

I'm always learning new things. I just discovered that in 1974, the State of Hawai'i passed a regulation providing some protection for the green sea turtle. This was ignored until 1978 when the Honu, (green sea turtle in Hawai`ian) was finally placed on the list of threatened species. My word! They were being eaten into extinction! Here at the resort a few are being hand raised, have their own pond are carefully fed and monitored by researchers. Maybe I shouldn't mention this, but I heard rumors that the Hawai`ians cook pigs in an imu, a hole in the ground! That's a little scary! I wonder if warthogs are a threatened species? I certainly hope not! Anyway, isn't this courtyard pretty? © 2008 David Coyote

So. . . where was I? Right. . . eating. Well, after breakfast it was back to some serious relaxation and wave watching. I--on my back. . . hooves in air--enjoyed the swaying branches of coconut palms and better than blue sky. I wonder what happened to all the coconuts? Maybe the administration was worried that the nuts might fall on someone and crack a skull. Between you and me, there are more nuts running around on the ground than are found in the trees! © 2008 David Coyote

One must be vigilant. I nearly sunburned my hooves when I fell asleep. I forgot that the sun moved. Luckily, the Princess awoke in time to warn me. It was a close call. After applying a generous coat of sun-block to nose and other parts that might suffer if burned, I contented my self by watching the waves. Note that crab-claw shaped sail on the horizon. It's one of those Hawai`ian canoes. © 2008 David Coyote

Later in the day I went up to our room for a nap. Am I repeating myself? Hmmm. Is there a thread weaving this story together? Sleep? Nap? I'm getting tired just remembering. © 2008 David Coyote

This is good. Me near some pillows. And the plumeria lei. All good. So glad to be in Hawai`i. . The Princess suggested that we take a drive the next day and explore some more of the island. She knows I'm an adventurous soul. My only suggestion was that we made sure we had a good meal before departing. One needs sustenance to sustain such activities. Just thinking about food made me nearly salivate so I snacked on a gift of tropical fruits and tasty baked sweets left for us by thoughtful friends. © 2008 David Coyote

People are nice to me, I must say that I was being treated quite well. . . and understandably so, since it was becoming clear to one and all that I was someone of no small importance. I'm going to take a little nap before dictating Day Three to the other guy. I always feel better after getting some rest. So. . until tomorrow. . Warty. . . the Alii Hog © 2008 David Coyote
