Background • • AERA typically focuses on journals and books. About 40 years ago, Division H needed to show AERA’s membership that there’s a wealth of R&D in the schools that isn’t found in journals and books. The real goal of the Division H Outstanding Publication competition is participation, not just awards. At one point, there were over 100 entries each year. About 1/3 of that now, even though today there are more outstanding publications than ever in our school systems. Share yours! Show AERA that the evaluators, researchers, and assessment directors in the schools are the ones in touch with what works and what’s happening.
