Dassault Israel Helbling Workshop: communication Diego Perini EN/MME Dassault Israel Helbling Workshop: communication - Forum Catia n° 14 - 26/03/2013 - Diego Perini - 1

I. Summary of the previous episodes • - Mars 2012: GUCS Note Lack of resources. • Þ - August 2012: First Workshop Dassault – CERN Presentation: Activities, Tools / Existing Process Organisms CAEC, PLMWG, GUCS, CAD: roles & responsibilities Users Requests Identification of needs Þ Establishing of contact with Dassault by EN/MME Þ F. Bertinelli conclusions. Dassault Israel Helbling Workshop: communication - Forum Catia n° 14 - 26/03/2013 - Diego Perini - 2

Conclusions of F. Bertinelli → After the 2 days workshop we agreed both CERN and Helbling/Dassault Israel to work together unless their commercial proposal is above our means. Technical matters: → Continue for the moment with existing Smar. Team and evolve our configuration: no dramatic changes of version or software recommended (specifically w. r. t. to ENOVIA v 6, PSI practices, or for more standard configurations…). This is important and reassuring for CERN, in the short-term. This statement can be modified if coincident with EDMS change, in the long-term. →Original problem: CERN lives with two PLMs (EDMS and Smar. Team): § Focus on only one (now or later? ), or … § Solidly synchronise them (for the moment …) → Recommend more emphasis on “item” as opposed to “document” → Recommend to implement short-term actions even when below 100% optimal, and then progress in time (at CERN we risk being too perfectionist, e. g. PLM approach) → Next steps…: Dassault Israel Helbling Workshop: communication - Forum Catia n° 14 - 26/03/2013 - Diego Perini - 3

II. New episode If you missed the be beginning. . Following the first workshop, • December 2012: Dassault proposal Þ Highlighting of 9 points of which 7 are technical and 2 are Organisation & Management. Then … • Delay : Redaction of CERN/Dassault contract Þ First step the 09/04/2012. • Dassault Organisation: ◊ Dassault Systems Israel: → Smarteam Specialist ◊ Helbling → Work organisation Þ External vision + PLM Experience Dassault Israel Helbling Workshop: communication - Forum Catia n° 14 - 26/03/2013 - Diego Perini - 4

The 7 technical points 1. Project Management & General Support Þ Consensus: CERN needs / needs suggested by DS. Þ Advices, Controls, Driving. Priorities : - Users needs. - Easing application. (Resources) 4. Establish CERN’s Smar. Team environment at DS Israel Labs Þ Reproducing the existing systems configuration. Þ Db server, Smarteam Server, End user Client. 5. Smar. Team / EDMS synchronization (Workshop) Þ Introduction of the RELEASE on the 2 D/3 D after CDD Controls. 6. Presentation of data (Workshop) Þ New design of the Profile Card/ Definition of attributes. Þ Migration between systems. 7. Error messages (No workshop) Þ Analysis and filtration of messages. 8. Item and BOM management (Workshop) Þ Best practice: BOM compare (Comparison 3 D/BOM) Þ EBOM/MBOM from same 3 D/ Comparison Þ RELEASE + Versioning ? 9. Data Exchange (Workshop) Þ Today’s tool with the exterior. Þ Viewer for CERN « normal » or external users. Dassault Israel Helbling Workshop: communication - Forum Catia n° 14 - 26/03/2013 - Diego Perini - 5

Point n° 1: Smar. Team / EDMS synchronization Workshop Priority n° 1 The preparation - “As is” writing of the today’s validation process. Þ Basis support de base for beginning to work. - Overview of the future Lifecycle. Þ Goal: synchronising the CDD / Smarteam systems. But it’s necessary to know that we are going in the right direction. Þ Uniform CERN view: EN/MME, PLM WG, CAD Support, CDD Support, etc The workshop - Between the 09/04/2013 and the 11/04/2013 Users Keys: Experience, overall vision, representation of the discussion groups. Þ Result: fast and effective solution. Dassault Israel Helbling Workshop: communication - Forum Catia n° 14 - 26/03/2013 - Diego Perini - 6

Conclusion The point in top Priority : Smar. Team / EDMS synchronization. Following this first point: Choice of the strategy (GS-ASE). Þ Internal or external Implementation? Resources? Planning? Etc. . The next task: Presentation of data (Workshop). Thanks to all the people involved in this job. For more details, don’t hesitate to contact Diego Perini. Thanks, Diego. The 2 Others points 2. Strategy and Organization workshops (Optional) Þ Þ Establish key success factors and goals. Review organization. Define ownership and responsibilities. Define strategy. 3. Process and data model Review Þ Þ Overview of End-to-end process Assess business process alignment Asses Data model and information flow Establish future state proposal Dassault Israel Helbling Workshop: communication - Forum Catia n° 14 - 26/03/2013 - Diego Perini - 8
