Darrell Jackson Attended Locke High School in Los Angeles, California where he lettered in Baseball. He graduated with Eddie Murray and Ozzie Smith, who are both in the Baseball Hall of Fame. Accepted a scholarship to Arizona State University while turning down an offer from the Minnesota Twins to play professional Baseball. While attending Arizona State he majored in Elementary Education. While playing Baseball at Arizona State he helped A. S. U. win a National Championship in his senior year of 1977. Upon graduation, Darrell signed a Minor League contract with the Minnesota Twins and began his Pro Career by pitching a no-hitter in his debut. After 10 Minor League games he was promoted to the Major Leagues. He went on to play 5 years in the Major Leagues, due to an injury his career was over at the age of 27. After falling into Major Depression as a result of Alcoholism and a Cocaine Addiction he sought help with the aid of former Major League Pitcher Doc Ellis. Darrell has been sober and productive since October of 1986 and has been able to re-create his life. After returning to school, Darrell earned his Adult-Education Teaching Credentials through the Designated Credentialing Program for Cal State Long Beach. Darrell also began working as a Consultant with the Downey Unified School District in September of 1995. In addition to working with the Downey Schools, Darrell incorporated the 10 -20 Club in June of 1995. For the past 13 years Darrell has become a fixture in the community of Downey and he has continued to provide support to the youth and their families with the same drive he had as a 150 pound Major-League Pitcher.

Darrell Jackson has held a long list of positions with the county, cities, and school districts in CA providing him with the much needed experience to work with the youth and their families. 1987 -1988 Santa Ana Parks and Recreation – Recreation Leader 1988 -1995 Public Speaker/Provided services to local school districts, probation departments, and juvenile courts in regards to Mental Health and Chemical Dependency. 1995 -Present Consultant for the Downey School District. President and Founder of 10 -20 Club. Volunteer Honorary member of the Downey Rotary Club Gangs Out of Downey Board of Managers - Downey YMCA Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association Board of Director - District Attorneys Juvenile Offenders Intervention Network Personal scholarship donation to seniors of Columbus Continuation High School Awards YMCA metro Martin Luther King Human Dignity Award CA PTA Volunteer of the Year Sertoma Club Service to Mankind Award Accommodation LA County Board of Supervisors for work with Mexican American Correctional Association (MACA)
