Daniel chapter 12 “The time of the end” Daniel 12: 1 … and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: Zechariah 14: 2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; … Zechariah 13: 8 … that in all the land (Israel), saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein. Zechariah 14: 12 And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.
Is this Michael or Jesus? Daniel 12: 1 And at that time (= Dan. 11: 40 -12: 1 =Armageddon) shall Michael (“who is like God”) stand up, the great prince (Jesus, not king yet) which standeth for the children of thy people (5971 “nation” =Jews): and there shall be a time of trouble (= events leading to Armegeddon Lk. 21: 26; Zec. 13: 8), such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people (5971 Jews) shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. (Mt. 22: 14) – The “great prince” shows this is Jesus and “michael” is to be interpreted as a common noun (“who is like God”). Jesus with his resurrected saints stands on the mount of Olives to confront the “King of the North” (Dan. 11: 40 -45) during the time of unprecedented trouble known as Armageddon. – “Thy people” = 5971 “am” also translated “nation” describes the Jews as compared to the “holy people” (saints as in v. 7). • Daniel 12: 7 …and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.

Dan. 12: 1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, (Armageddon) the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people … 2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. • No, there is a context change from the Jews (“thy people”) -- to the “holy people” (Dan. 12: 7) who in v. 3 “turn many to “righteousness”.
Can you imagine Daniel seeing our modern world! • Daniel 12: 4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro <7751 “shuwt”>, and knowledge shall be increased. – 2 Chronicles 16: 9 For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro <7751 “shuwt”> throughout the whole earth, … – Compare with Daniel 8: 27 And I Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king's business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it.
Daniel 12: 5 Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river. 6 And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders? • The angels on each side of the river are thought to be Gabriel and Michael who are ready to do the bidding of the man clothed in linen (multitudeness Christ). Dan. 10: 5, 6; Rev. 19: 14 -16. • The river (types time as applied to “people, nations, tongues” Rev. 17: 15) and as seen from the question, “How long shall it be to the end of these wonders? ” The answer is given with three periods, verses 7, 11&12.
Daniel 12: 7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he (Papal power) shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people (5971 “am”, all these things shall be finished. Ø “time” = 360, times = 720 + ½ time = 180, total 1260 years. Ø “holy people” = believers who have separated themselves, opposing the “mother harlot” and “turning many to righteousness” v. 3. Ø The context is the 1260 years period detailed in Dan. 7: 25; Rev. 12: 14 beginning with the decree of Phocas (606 AD) that confirmed the pope as head of all churches. These serpents (Popes) in sheep’s clothing used this decree to persecute all who resisted. Ø Rev. 12: 14 And to the woman (ecclesia) were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
• Daniel 12: 8 And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things? (= what follows the 1260 years ending in 1866) 9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. 10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand. Ø The “holy people” v. 7 who turn many to righteousness, v. 3. § Dan. 12: 3 “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. ”
DAN 12: 11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away (598 BC), and the abomination that maketh desolate set up (688 -691 AD), shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. Ø (-598 BC + 1290) = 692 AD -1 = 691 AD = dedication of the Dome of the Rock. The Dome of the Rock on the temple site is the “Abomination”
DAN 12: 11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away (598 BC), and the abomination that maketh desolate set up (688691 AD), shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. Ø (-598 BC + 1290) = 692 AD -1 = 691 AD = dedication of the Dome of the Rock. v. 12 Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days. Ø “He that waiteth” in the context of v. 11 is when the “daily sacrifice” offering is reinstituted, Eze. 46: 13. Ø 691 AD + 1335 = 2026 AD = those like Daniel who will be blessed to see the “daily” morning offering reinstituted. Ø Jesus will return as a thief well before the daily offering is reinstituted. Eze. 46: 13 Thou shalt daily prepare a burnt offering unto the LORD of a lamb of the first year without blemish: thou shalt prepare it every morning.
Daniel 8: 13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot? 14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed. – The vision begins with the “little horn” (Rome) when it began to move “south and east“ (v. 9) about 275 BC. – This suggests the daily sacrifice will begin again 2300 years after Rome moved South and East, (2300 – 275 -1 = 2026 A. D).

It took 40 years to get Egypt out of Israel! Micah 7: 15 According to the days of thy coming out of the land of Egypt (40 yrs. ) will I shew unto him (Babylon the Great) marvellous (Psa. 48: 4) things. 16 The nations shall see and be confounded at all their (Israel’s) might: they (kings) shall lay their hand upon their mouth, their ears shall be deaf. ØPsalm 48: 4 For, lo, the kings were assembled, they passed by together. 5 They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were troubled, and hasted away.
• Matthew 24: 36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. • Acts 1: 7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. • 1 Thessalonians 5: 1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. • Daniel 2: 21 And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:
Luke 21: 24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled (Since 1967 Jerusalem no longer controlled by Gentiles). 25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars (political heaven); and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity (no way out); the sea and the waves roaring; 26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
"There is no intention to be dogmatic about this, --though it may appear so -- one has to be reasonable firm in stating the case, otherwise no impact is made. But the opposite, that we do not and cannot know anything definite, is equally unacceptable. The Scriptures do make certain positive statements and we should be prepared to accept them as valid. The Decree of Phocas Ø (The History) Pope Boniface III sought and obtained a decree from Emperor Phocas in 606 AD which restated that "the See of Blessed Peter the Apostle should be the head of all the Churches". This ensured that the title of "Universal Bishop" belonged exclusively to the Bishop of Rome, and effectively ended the attempt by Cyriacus, Bishop of Constantinople, to establish himself as "Universal Bishop". Ø Two years later a pillar was erected to honour Phocas. Ø The pope lost his power 1260 years later and no longer has political power to persecute.
