Dance Mania Project By: Jack Nordloh and Evan Dejonckheere
Understand The dance pad had to meet the following requirements: ● Each light is turned on by its corresponding switch ● Able to light up 2 lights at the same time ● Able to light up all lights at the same time ● Looks aesthetically pleasing
Explore Used a circuit building simulation in order to test ways of how the circuit was to be set up.
Define ● The wires were to be soldered on to the bulbs to make sure they were well connected ● Use tin foil to expand the contact area of the switch in the dance pad and make the circuit easier to complete ● Electrical tape use to connect any wires that needed to be connected which were then duct taped down to maintain an aesthetically pleasing look
Ideate Here is the initial sketch of how the wiring would be done throughout the pad and light box.
Prototype After the wiring had been done using the initial sketch we discovered that each pad would light up all of the lights instead of those desired and that it needed to be fixed.
Solution It was determined that the “ 1, 4” and “ 1, 2, 3, 4” switches needed their wires to be separate in order to avoid completing the circuit for all of the lights. After these changes were made the dance pad met all specifications.
Solution Here is the final wiring blueprint
