Working hour – 25 h shift • Start at 7: 00 am at workplace (uniform) • 7: 00 -8: 00 – Take over the shift (Notam, AUP, plan of comander) • 8: 00 - Meteo forecast and Briefing with pilots for flying action • 9: 00 - First flying action • 12: 00 - lunch ( break) • 14: 00 - Debriefing • 15: 00 - Second flying action • 18: 00 - dinner time • 22: 00 - Debriefing, End of 2 nd FA (rest, radio and phone monitoring) • 7: 00 - Hand over to new ATCo and go home ASAP
Duties • Issue landing and takeoff instructions to pilots • Monitor and direct the movement of aircraft • Control all ground traffic at airports • Manage communications with other units • Provide information to pilots, such as weather updates, taxiway closures, and other critical information • Alert airport staff, in the event of an aircraft emergency
Composition of a shift: • SC, TWR, APP, APC
TWR (Ao. R – CTR) Responsible for: • Take-offs and landings on runway • Active runway management (line-up, crossing, backtrack…) • Management of the aerodrome circuit • Traffic separation during take-offs and landings Deals with: • Departing aircraft or runway crossing clearances at holding point • Inbound IFR aircraft established on the final approach track • VFR traffic entering the control zone (CTR) and/or the aerodrome circuit
APP (Ao. R – TMA) • Ensure that aircraft traveling within a terminal control area maintain minimum separation for safety • Give clearances to enter controlled airspace and coordinate the traffic with adjacent units • Vector planes to final approach track • Use radar equipment to monitor flight paths • Provide information to pilots, such as weather conditions and other critical notices.
SC- senior controller • Control work of subordinates • Provide a help and advice, especially when a problem occurs • Organise emergency situations • Determine breaks for subordinates • Supervise to rotate in position during the shift • Does the administration
