ABOUT THE POEM In ‘Money Madness’, the poet criticises the rampant craving for wealth and worldly possessions at the cost of human values. This has speeded into individual lives, and people have become dangerously obsessed with it. Money-mad people have no regard for the spiritual side of life or for qualities such as sympathy , kindness and selfrespect.
MONEY MADNESS : TRAGEDY FOR HUMANITY If this attitude were to spread, it would be great tragedy for humanity as then people would not care for one another and for the basic principles of human existence would be forgotten in the frantic effort to make money. The poet cautions that if we do not check our madness for money, we will destroy one another. Money is required but it should not become the all important or guiding principle of life because that will only lead to the death of civilization.
MONEY MADNESS • Money is a madness shared by everyone in the world. If the whole world is mad , then every single person carries the madness around him. The people do not give the pound note with happiness & if a person thinks to give a 10 pound note he feels tremors within him. Money makes afraid. It has got us down to grovel in front of it.
It is not money we are afraid of , but it is the collective money madness that makes us afraid. If somebody has money , people will try to be his friend but if he does not have money no one cares about him. If i have no money the people will give me bread which will keep me alive but I shall have to eat dirt with it. This makes a fear within me and that fear can turn out to be a delirium.
we should save some money that will not let us eat dirt. bread, shelter, fire should be free for every person, anywhere in the world. we should gain our sanity before we start killing each other for money. now it depends on us whether we should save money or kill people to get money.
