FORMAL EDUCATION IN CYPRUS Every child in Cyprus should have the following education: Pre-Primary School (5 -6 yrs) Pre-Primary Education Teachers Primary School (6 -12 yrs) Primary Education Teachers Gymnasium (12 -15 yrs) Lyceum (15 -18 yrs) Secondary Education Teachers

HIERARCHY OF TEACHERS Teachers Pre-Primary Teachers Secondary Education Teachers Special Education Teachers Assistant Headmasters Headmaster (School Leadership) Inspector/Supervisor Evaluate Teachers, Assistant Headmasters and Headmaster’s work Different inspector for each field

QUALIFICATIONS To be a teacher in public and private primary schools you should have at least: Bachelor Degree in Primary Education (Pedagogical Studies) – 4 years Good User of Greek Language To teach in secondary education you should at least have: Bachelor Degree in a Specific Subject of the curriculum (Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science etc. ) Extra qualifications but not obligatory Master’s Degree Doctorate
