DEFINITION Cybercrime is defined as a crime in which a computer is the object of the crime (hacking, phishing, spamming) or is used as tool to commit an offense (child pornography, hate crimes). Cybercriminals may use computer technology to access personal information, business trade secrets or use internet to exploitative or malicious purposes. Criminals can also use computers for communication and document or data storage. Criminals who perform these illegal activities are often refered to as hackers.
TYPES Common types of cybercrime include online bank information theft, identity theft, online predatory crimes and unauthorized computer access. More serious crimes like cyberterrorism are also of significant concern.
CATEGORIES There are two categories: Crimes that target computer networks or devices. These types of crimes include viruses and denial of service. (DOS) attacks. Crimes that use computer networks to advance other criminal activities. These types of crimes include cyber stalking , phishing and fraud or identity theft.

TYPES OF CYBER CRIME HACKING It means unauthorized attempts to bypass the security mechanisms of an information system or network. Also, in simple words hacking is the unauthorized access to a computer system, programs , data and network resources. DATA THEFT If any person without permission of the owner of any other person, who is in a charge of computer, computer system of computer network- downloads , copies or extracts , any data , computer data base or information from such computers held or stored in any removable storage medium , then it is data theft.
SPREADING VIRUSES OR WORMS The virus will install files on your system and then will change your system so that virus program is run every time you start your system. It will then attempt to replicate itself by sending itself to other potential victims

Examples of Internet and communications crimes are hacking, illegal websites, and phone phreaking. 3. Support of criminal enterprises. Examples of this category include databases to support drug distribution, and electronic money laundering. 4. Computer-manipulation crimes. Examples include embezzlement, electronic fund transfer fraud, and phishing. 5. Hardware, software, and information theft. Examples include identity theft, thefts of computers, and software piracy.
