Objectives • Strengthen the capacity of transboundary water management in EECCA • Facilitate exchange of experience and improve cooperation and coordination • Establish, maintain and strengthen a network of EECCA experts • Make recommendations for future action, taking into account the outcome of the previous workshops • Contribute to the assessment report on the status of transboundary waters in the UNECE region Convention of the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes
Assessment of transboundary waters • Developed under the work plan of the Water Convention • First report ready in 2007 for the Belgrade Ministerial Conference Environment for Europe • Will cover rivers, lakes and groundwaters • Specific focus on EECCA and SEE • Will include information on the basins, M&A programmes, pressures and state, and future trends • Benchmark progress in the Convention’s implementation and in water management in UNECE Convention of the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes
