Day 1 – Woodland Animals
What animal is this?
This is a fox. • The fox is a member of the dog family • They are a little bit bigger than a cat • They eat most things including berries, worms, mice, spiders and even jam sandwiches!
What animal is this?
This is an Owl. • The owl is nocturnal. This means they sleep in the day and are active at night. • They have very big eyes and a flat face • They have strong, big claws called talons which help them catch their prey (food) • They eat insects, mice and smaller birds

This is a hedgehog. • Hedgehogs are also nocturnal. They sleep in the day and are active at night time • They build nests in hedges and bushes, that’s where they get their name ‘hedgehog’ from • They have a really long snout/nose which they use to find their food. • They eat insects, worms and berries
What animal is this?
This is a wood mouse. • A wood mouse has a pointed nose/snout, small round ears and a long tail • They can grow tails as long as their bodies • Mice are also nocturnal animals so they are active at night time • They eat fruit and grains from plants

This is a squirrel. • Squirrels have big front teeth that help them chew and gnaw • Squirrels have large eyes • They love eating nuts the best, but they also eat plants and meat • They have really good noses that can sniff out all the nuts that they bury underground

This is a badger. • Badgers are nocturnal animals too so they are mostly active at night time. • Badgers have large bodies with short legs that are good at digging the ground • They dig burrows underground where they live • They eat most things including mice, rats, rabbits, frogs, nut and worms
Task: Talk about your favourite woodland animal and draw a picture of your it.

Task: Print or draw this image into your book. Collect feathers, leaves and twigs to create a collage of the three baby owls.

Day 5 - Basket Weaving
Task: Follow the instructions to make a basket to collect natural items from the outdoors in! You will need : 3 pieces of paper Scissors Sticky Tape
Step 1 • Fold one of the pieces of paper in half
Step 2 • Take the folded piece of paper and halfway along cut from the folded edge up to about 3 cm from the top. • Then cut half way between each piece again and again until you have 7 cuts in total. Remember don’t cut all the way up to the top!
Step 3 • Take the other sheets of paper and cut them into individual strips long ways.
Step 4 • Weave the strips through the slots in the paper. Weave each piece under and over alternately through the slots.
Step 5 • When you have finished weaving, fold the ends of the strips to the back and tape them down with sticky paper.
Step 6 • Using a strip of paper leftover, make a handle for your basket by taping it on using sticky tape at two sides.
