What does Cf. E mean for my child? • Pre-school and Primary – Broad General Education 3 -15 – – early first second third & fourth pre-school to P 1 P 2 to P 4 P 5 to P 7 S 1 to S 3 – Modest curriculum changes – More emphasis on active engagement in learning – Literacy, numeracy and aspects of health & wellbeing responsibility of all – Fewer outcomes, broader levels
What does Cf. E mean for my child? – Learning more relevant and in context – Profiling of progress and achievement – ‘Space’ to broaden and deepen learning balanced against progression – Assessment more 'valid' and 'reliable' and as part of learning – Better continuity pre-school to P 1 and P 7 -S 1 – Focus on transferable skills
Progress this year • 2010/11 first full year of Cf. E nationally • All schools using Es & Os to plan almost all learning • Good progress with assessment and moderation (BCA) • First reports in Cf. E format (DCS) • Almost 40% of schools piloting Cf. E transferable skills • Developing expertise in ‘active learning’ Education Service
