Task You have been asked to create a football village for fans to enjoy before they go and watch a Euro 2016 match. The village must include facilities such as fan zones, restaurants, bars, toilets and playing areas.

Time Limits • Introduce challenge and read the information on “Football Village” – 1 lesson • Research relevant books and websites on the facilities at a Fan Zone – 1 lesson • Create your football village using a 30 cm x 15 cm grid (this can be changed to suit class needs) – 1 -2 lessons • Peer mark each football village and check area and perimeter calculations – 1 lesson

Carry out detailed research work on what activities there are for fans to do during the build up to big matches. 4. Decide what facilities you could include in the football village. 5. Recap how to find the area and perimeter of squares and rectangles. 6. Share the teacher model. 7. Discuss success criteria. 8. Work through the calculations ensuring they are accurate. 9. Add the facilities to the 30 cm x 15 cm (this can differ depending on ability) grid. 10. Add a key. 11. Peer mark each grid to ensure calculations are accurate.
