cultural intelligence What is it? Cultural intelligence measures the ability to effectively reach across the chasm of cultural difference in ways that are loving and respectful. It measure our metaframework for dealing with culture, integrating various disciplines. What’s the goal? Learning how to effectively express love for people unlike us…in other words, the other.

Four Factors • Knowledge – cognitive understanding of crosscultural issues and differences. • Interpretive – degree to which one is mindful and aware of interacting cross-culturally. • Perseverance – level of interest, drive, and motivation to adapt cross-culturally. • Behavioral – extent to which one can appropriately change one’s verbal and non-verbal actions when interacting cross-culturally. (CI, 14, 210)
