Project Background - Cefndir y Prosiect Cultural Ambition is a strategic three-year programme for the cultural heritage sector, creating up to 33 highquality training placements across Wales to bring in new, young talent from some of Wales’ most disadvantaged areas to the heritage sector. It will fill vital skills gaps in heritage organisations, help them diversify their workforce and transform the profile of the heritage sector as a potential employer. Where was the need? - Ble'r oedd yr angen? Baroness Kay Andrews’ report Culture and Poverty identified the need to make culture accessible for all and that targeted work was needed to ensure those in more disadvantaged communities could participate. An initial consultation for this project informed early development. The consultation was completed by 70 representatives from Welsh heritage organisations. The project was developed from late 2015 -2017 in consultation with our Lead Partners. The final application was submitted on 7 th September 2017, and confirmation of our Permission to Start was received from the National Lottery Heritage Fund on 1 st February 2018. Datblygwyd y prosiect o ddiwedd 2015 -2017 mewn ymgynghoriad â'n Partneriaid Arweiniol. Cyflwynwyd y cais terfynol ar 7 fed Medi 2017, a derbyniwyd cadarnhad o'r Caniatâd i Gychwyn Arni gan Gronfa Dreftadaeth y Loteri Genedlaethol ar 1 af Chwefror 2018.

How does it work? - Sut mae'n gweithio? Recruitment open to young people who are: Aged 18 -24, Not in education, employment or training, Non-graduates Applications are shortlisted and interviews held with site mentors. Applicants receive the questions in advance to help remove as many barriers as possible. Successful trainees spend 12 months split between three sites in their region while undertaking a Level 2 qualification with Cardiff and Vale College. A bursary of £ 800 pcm is paid to trainees.
