PUERTO RICO

Puerto Rico, whose capital is San Juan, is located in the Caribbean to the east of the Dominican Republic and to the west of the Virgin Islands.

Puerto Ricans often refer to themselves as Boricuas which is a word derived from the Taíno Indian name for the island.

Puerto Rico is a commonwealth of the United States and all Puerto Ricans are U. S. citizens.

The coquí frog is a symbol of Puerto Rico. It is named after the sound that it makes when it sings at night. Interestingly, if coquí frogs are moved to another country, they no longer make the sound.

Famous Puerto Ricans include Marc Anthony, Jennifer Lopez, Benicio del Toro, Eva La. Rue, Jimmy Smits, Fat Joe, Ricky Martin, and La La Anthony.

CUBA

Cultura Diaria Cuba is located 90 miles south of Florida and its capital is Havana.

The U. S. has had a trade embargo against Cuba since 1960. In January 2015 the Obama administration announced plans to re-establish relations with Cuba. Several restrictions of the embargo have been loosened but the embargo on trade and tourism remains in place for now.

Cuba is a "living museum" of 1950 s American Cadillacs, Chevrolets, etc. which have been kept running since the Revolution because no new U. S. cars can be imported.
