The EU accompanying measure CULTIVATE aims to provide a network supporting the co-operation of archives, libraries and museums under the Fifth Framework Programme. This network has two parts: CULTIVATE-EU for the Western part of Europe and CULTIVATE-CEE for the ten accession countries in Central and Eastern Europe. 16. 01. 2022 Funded by the European Commission 2
Objectives Ø to raise the awareness of the IST Programme for the development and the use of cultural heritage applications in all memory institutions in Europe. Ø to raise quantity and quality of the submitted proposals in the IST Programme. Ø this aims shall be achieved by use of electronic information services, organization of Information Days and through individual consulting. 16. 01. 2022 Funded by the European Commission 3
1. An important aim of each project in the IST Programme is to put the project results later into practice. 2. Project results, new as well as old ones, are a valuable basis of knowledge for new developments. 3. The start of CULTIVATE-CEE was the start of spreading the CULTIVATE activities towards the East. CULTIVATE-Russia For 1 September 2001 the next step eastwards is planned: The addition of a Russian node to the European Cultural Heritage Applications Network will connect the European Cultural Heritage with the Russian Cultural Heritage and enable easier access to these cultural treasures. Levels of cooperation An important contribution of the project is the realization of a national, european and international cooperation of public and private organizations in cultural and technological research. 16. 01. 2022 Funded by the European Commission 19
Ø On national level a network, consiting of representatives of all national cultural organizations, from the sector of museums, libraries and archives, shall be build. Ø Each country can organize this network independently and has to pay attention, that each sector is represented.
