Expectations • You are not only representing yourselves but also St Leonard’s College so the expectation is that you uphold the same behaviour as you would do at school. • Please remember that when in schools/preschools you will be acting as a role model to the younger children – they love having older students to talk to & play with and certainly will look to model your actions and behaviours. • In aged care facilities, you need to remember that the elderly often have different perspectives on every day living – we want to leave them thinking how polite and well behaved our younger generation is. Be patient, kind and understanding. • If you’re going to a disabilities placement, do a little research and see if you can find out different avenues in which to interact with different disabilities.
House keeping • It is important to dress appropriately. We are not asking you to wear your school uniform but the expectation is that you present on your first day, in smart casual clothes – no ripped jeans, no singlets, no T shirts with inappropriate slogans on them, no thongs. • Take a packed lunch with you on the first day as you don’t know what breaks you will be given. On subsequent visits you will know what to expect and may be able to go out to buy lunch at local shops/cafes. When you do go out, you MUST tell the coordinator where you are going and leave your mobile phone numbers with them so that you can be contacted. You must also make sure you are back on time (or 5 mins early).
House keeping • You must take and wear your name badge (with medical details on back) at every session. • In the unlikely event that you are sick on one of your placement days, you MUST notify your placement co-ordinator as well as school prior to your start time. ABSOLUTELY NO MOBILE PHONES ARE TO BE USED DURING YOUR DAYS OUT WITH THE EXCEPTION OF LUNCH/BREAK TIMES – they must be put away in your bag/locker.
House keeping Lastly this may take you out of your comfort zone and not necessarily be exactly what you had been expecting. Embrace the opportunity of making a difference to someone – you hopefully will enjoy the experience.
House keeping Rotation 2 dates: • • Wednesday 26 nd June Wednesday 24 th July Wednesday 14 th August Friday 30 th August
