Cuban Missile Crisis 1962 By Jack Cave
Why Was The Internet Created? 1. The internet was created during the cold war because Russia had some missiles pointed at America, but couldn’t get them to reach since it was too far to make impact, so they got with their Cuban friends to agree to put the missiles on Cuba, well in reach of USA. The Us feared that the connection between other countries would be failed, so they created the Internet to secure and indestructible connection, with multiple paths! 2. It was created by ARPANET an American intelligence organisation, but they were stopped in 1994.
How is it setup? It is a network of huge wires all buried under the sea by a special boat, constantly repairing the internet! A map of the internet which shows all connections
The WWW The creator of the World Wide Web was a man called Tim Berners-Lee, a British icon, who performed in the Olympic opening ceremony London 2012 as the man on the computer (for those who didn’t know, like me until I was told!) It is run by the internet, and without the internet, WWW wouldn’t survive without the internet, but the internet can survive without WWW. The first Web site built was at http: //info. cern. ch/ and was first put online on August 6, 1991. It provided an explanation about what the World Wide Web was, how someone could own a browser and how to set up a Web server. It was also the world's first Web directory, since Berners-Lee maintained a list of other Web sites apart from his own.
E-mail stands for electronic mail was first created in 1971 by a respected man called Ray Tomlinson. The first e-mail was sent by the queen and was exactly this: Qwertyuiop Yes, the first line of letters on your keyboard, which is now used on mobile phones called a qwerty keyboard!
Impact The impact of the internet is unbelievable. What if we didn’t have the WWW! Facebook, twitter, hotmail, Google, Wikipedia, You. Tube, Microsoft office (even though it doesn’t rely on internet) and e. Bay/Amazon. Most people rely on these useful sources of information and without them businesses would be destroyed, people would be distraught and governments would be out of touch. Therefore, we should take a step back and realise just what you are reading has sources and pictures from the WWW and WWW is internet run. Thank you ARPANET, TOMILSON and BERNERS LEE
