OUTDOOR ACTIVITY AWARD
Award �This award is intended to get scoutside �Once requirements are met a Cub Scout Outdoor activity award form must be filled out to obtain the award �https: //filestore. scouting. org/filestore/cubscouts/pdf/512 - 013_WB. pdf �The first time the award is received the scout will receive a pocket flap award to be worn on the right pocket flap �Each successive year a wolf track pin may be added to the flap
Requirements �Must attend summer camp (day or resident) �Typically camp provides the kids the award requirements for the next scouting year. Ex. Going to camp the summer between 1 st and 2 nd grade would go towards the wolf award �Must complete the outdoor award for rank �Tiger – Backyard Jungle �Wolf – Paws on the Path �Bear – Bear Necessities �Webelos – Webelo Walkabout
Requirements – cont. �Must complete 7 of the following, activities must be in addition to similar activities used toward rank advancement and can be accomplished as a family, den or pack �Participate in a nature hike �Participate in and outdoor activity (such as picnic of fun day in a park) �Explain the buddy system and tell what to do if lost. Explain importance of cooperation. �Attend a pack ovenighter �Complete an outdoor service project in your community �Complete a nature/conservation project (should involve improving, beautifying or supporting natural habitats)
Requirements – cont. �Earn the Summertime Pack Award �Participate in a nature observation activity (describe or illustrate and display your observations at a den/pack meeting) �Participate in an outdoor aquatics activity �Participate in an outdoor campfire program �Participate in an outdoor sporting event �Participate in an outdoor interfaith or other worship service �Explore a local park. Discuss with your den how a good citizen obeys the park rules �Invent and outside game and play it outside with friends for min.
NATIONAL SUMMERTIME PACK AWARD
Award �This award is intended to encourage packs to provide a year- round program �Award is a pin and there is a different color for each scouting year. �Pin is worn on the right pocket flap (pined on the outdoor activity award if present) �Summertime award should match their current rank rather than the rank they are working on (ex. Boys who have attained the Tiger rank will receive the Tiger pin even though they are in a Wolf den)
Requirements �Attend pack planned activities during summer months �Must take part in a pack planned activity in June, July and August �Each rank in scouting has a pin that is awarded for this award
WORLD CONSERVATION AWARD
Award �This award is meant to get the scouts to think globally and act locally � This award can be earned at the Wolf, Bear and Webelo rank �There is only one patch for this award and no pins for subsequent years earned �This patch is worn centered on the right pocket as a temporary patch �Once requirements are met the Cub Scout World Conservation Award form must be filled out to obtain the award �https: //filestore. scouting. org/filestore/cubscouts/pdf/512 - 036_WB. pdf
Requirements � Wolf �Earn Paws on the Path adventure �Earn Grow Something adventure �Complete requirements 1 and 2 from Spirit of the Water adventure �Participate in a den or pack conservation project � Bear �Earn Fur, Feathers, and Ferns adventure �Earn either A Bear Goes Fishing or Critter Care adventures �Complete requirement 3 from Baloo the Builder by constructing a bird feeder or house �Participate in a den or pack conservation project

RECRUITER STRIP
Award/Requirements �Aimed to encourage scouts to invite friends into the scouting program �Only one strip is awarded while they are a cub scout �This award is a permanent patch to be worn directly below the right pocket �There are no formal requirements for this award and each unit can establish their own procedures �Typically awarded the first time a cub recruits a new scout
EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS AWARD
Award �This award is designed to help prepare scouts to be prepared in an emergency �Can be earned at every level but there is only 1 pin with no subsequent pins awarded at different ranks �Pin is to be worn on the left pocket flap �Once requirements are met the Emergency Preparedness BSA Application must be filled out to obtain the award �https: //filestore. scouting. org/filestore/pubs/pdf/680 -602. pdf
Requirements �Tiger �Cover a family fire plan, fire drill and what to do if seperated from the family �Discuss a family emergency plan with the family �Create, plan and practice summoning help during an emergency �Take a nationally recognized first-aid course geared toward children (Ex. FACT) �Join a safe kids program (ex. Mc. Gruff Child Identification) �Show and tell your family household what you have learned about preparing for emergencies
Requirements – cont. � Wolf �Create a checklist to keep your home safe �Discuss a family emergency plan with the family �Create, plan and practice summoning help during an emergency �Lean emergency skills and care for choking, wounds, nosebleeds, falls and animal bites (should include responses for fire safety, poisoning, water accidents, substance abuse and more) �Join a safe kids program and put on a training program for your family/den on stranger awareness, internet safety or safety at home. �Make a presentation to your family on what you have learned about preparing for emergencies
Requirements – cont. � Bear �Create, plan and practice summoning help during an emergency �Learn how to shut off utilities to your home in an emergency �Learn simple rescue techniques �Learn emergency skills and care for choking, wounds, nosebleeds, falls, and animal bites (should include responses for fire safely, poisoning, water accidents, substance abuse and more) �Put together a family emergency kit for use in the home �Organize a safe kids program (such as Mc. Gruff Child Identification program). Put on a training program for your family/den on stranger awareness, internet safety or safety at home. �Make a small display or five a presentation for your family/den on what you have learned about preparing for emergencies
Requirements – cont. �Webelo �Learn rescue techniques �Build a family emergency kit, with an adult family member participating in the project �Take a first-ad course �Learn to survive extreme weather situations �Learn about stranger awareness, internet safety or safety at home �Give a presentation to your den on preparing for emergencies
SHOOTING SPORTS AWARDS
Award � This award is designed to fulfill the boys love to shoot while developing safe shooting practices. � These awards can only be earned at district or council activities �Day camp and family adventure weekends are the opportunities provided to the scouts in our district � A patch for each rank is available when the level 1 requirements are fulfilled for one discipline (bb gun, archery or slingshot) �This is a temporary patch to be worn on the right pocket � A pin is awarded for each discipline that level 2 requirements are completed �The pins are placed on the patch (the patch has 3 stars for the pins to go on)
Requirements �Level 1 �Participation in a discipline and acquiring basic knowledge of proper technique, safely and operations in that discipline �Level 2 �Designed to help a Cub Scout develop and demonstrate further skills, proficiency and knowledge in a shooting discipline
STEM/NOVA AWARDS
Award - STEM �Stem awards are designed to expose kids to areas of science, technology, engineering and math �Available to boys at the Wolf, Bear and Webelo levels �A patch is awarded the first time this award is earned and a Pi pin is awarded up to 3 subsequent awards and can be pined on the badge. �Award is worked on individually and boys must meet and discuss with a trained counselor throughout the process, very much like a merit badge counselor. �There is a self guided training to become a counselor and a test that would need to be turned in to council.
Nova - requirements � There are several options of specialization for the Nova awards. � 4 science options and 1 each for technology, engineering and math � Each award requires reading and/or watching educational videos on the specific topic � Each award requires a rank specific belt loop to be earned � Each award requires research/activities based on the specific topic chose � Each award requires visiting a place where the specific topic is utilized or further research on careers in that specialized topic. � The Cub Scout Nova Awards guidebook can be bought from the council store to help guide you through requirements
Award - Supernova �There are two levels of Supernova awards at the cub level, one for Wolf and Bear Scouts and one for Webelo scouts. �These must be earned with a council-approved mentor (cannot be a parent or unit leader) �It is recommended (but not required) that you earn 2 of the STEM awards before earning the Supernova Award �Once requirements are complete a form must be filled out to obtain the award �https: //filestore. scouting. org/filestore/STEM/pdf/Supernova Application. pdf �Supernova award is a metal to be worn around your neck
Requirements �Requirements for these awards involve researching scientists and careers in these fields. �The Cub Scout Nova Awards guidebook can be bought from the council store to help guide you through requirements
