CTGP

Nature The Catholic Teachers’ Guild of the Philippines (CTGP) is a national association of Catholic Teachers from both public and private schools of the Philippines.

History It was founded on April 3, 1955 and was mandated as a Catholic Action organization in the Archdiocese of Manila in September, 1957 and recognized as a regular member of the National Council of the Laity in the same year.

Affiliation CTGP is a member of the UNION MUNDIAL DE EDUCATORES CATOLICOS , WORLD UNION OF CATHOLIC TEACHERS.

Vision The improvement of education in the Philippines by providing Catholic Educators with opportunities for a continuing updating of their professional competence. To create in Catholic teachers an ever deeper awareness of drawing inspiration for their activities in the Christian vision of the world of education permeated with the Gospel values.

Mission To assist the members in acquiring a true philosophy of Catholic Education, and to promote the spiritual and professional growth of Filipino Catholic Teachers as well as their social well-being to enable them to live-up to the ideals of an authentic Catholic Educator.

Areas Present Educational Institutions throughout the Philippines and in the different Parishes � Periodic seminars/conferences for the personal and professional growth of members. �National Conferences with adopted themes on roles of Catholic Teachers. �Expansion of Chapters in public schools.

The Speaker during the Catholic Teachers Guild of the Philippines General Assembly last Sept. 12, 2018 was Dr. Pilar I. Romero, Dean UST College of Education. She talked on the “Challenges of the Teachers in the New Curriculum”

The Catholic Teachers Guild of the Philippines Conference 2018 was attended by 120 public school teachers from Quezon City. This has been part of the CTGP advocacy to support the teachers from the public school through conferences and training.

The CTGP National Conference 2019 was held at the Lourdes Custodio Hall College of Education, UST last March 9, 2019. The Conference started with the Eucharistic Celebration that was presided by Rev. Fr. Maximo Gatela, OP, the CTGP Ecclesiastical Adviser.

The keynote address during the CTGP National Conference 2019 was given by Dr. Clarita D. L. Carillo, the Assistant to the Rector for Planning & Quality. Management, UST. She shared her expertise on the topic "The Power of Language
