CSMN Friday Fellowship Last time we discussed the “People of the Promise”, the descendants of Abraham: Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph. Today we will discuss “the call to walk in the ways of God” including the role of Moses, and how God leads the Hebrew people, living in slavery in Egypt, out of slavery and giving them the Law during their 40 years of wandering in de desert, before entering the promised land. The need for a deliverer became obvious.

The Call to Walk in the Ways of God gives the Hebrew people the Law God brought the people to the same mountain (Horeb or Sinai) where He had appeared to Moses in the burning bush. What did God ask the people to be and do for Him? Read Ex. 19: 5 -6. They were to obey Him and keep His covenant; and they were to represent Him to all the nations of the earth. The people promised that they would keep God’s law (verse 8).
